Opt for traditional bed. Waterbed may be fun, but it’s otherwise for your esophagus.
“Those who suffer from heartburn should just part from their favorite waterbeds,” says Walta.
Even if it hurts to hear just that, it is just impossible to keep your head elevated in a water-filled mattress. This causes for everything to just head up north, possibly waking up from a sore throat-like pain the next morning.
Just walk out of a dinner table when you are through or have finished your recommended serving. But make sure to stay away from the couch, no matter how tempting it is to get a quick nap immediately after you ate. Patel recommends staying upright for at least an hour. Those who allow their head to hit the couch or bed after a meal is definitely asking for trouble, says Patel.
Don’t snack before snooze. At least two or three hours before bedtime, says Walta. Experts, in fact, recommend hitting the pillow early if that is what your body wants instead of munching on some crackers to stay awake for just an hour before your usual bedtime. Stay upright for at least two hours so the gastric contents had settled and been emptied by your stomach.
Prevent going for the second, no matter how tempting it is to just do otherwise. Overeating is one of the causes of heartburn, going berserk on the table food is just asking for your trouble. Think of it as a balloon. If you continue filling it up, you may blow your valve in the wrong door, says Walta.
Loosen up. Go for relaxed jeans. Or just loosen up your belt. Tight clothing will just pressure in your mid-area, increasing the acid that will go up to your esophagus, says Patel.
Shed off pounds. There’s no better way to prevent heartburn that to loose the fat. If you have spare tires, chances are you are packing fats in the inside. Unfortunately, the fats are competitively contending for space in your stomach. And that means that it is pressing against your stomach, causing persistent reflux, says Walta.
Get moving. Couch potatoes are the very same people who experience painful heartburns, states Taylor. Even if it worries you that you might experience heart-wrecking heartburn during exercises, it is certain that you will not, says Taylor. Mild and moderate exercises like walking or gardening can help ease digestive woes. However, don’t overdo it, especially immediately after eating; wait for some time or at least until the contents had settled down.
Watch what goes in. A low-fat, high-carb, and high-bulk diet is the best solution for those who have heartburns. Fatty foods, deep-fried meat, and even spicy numbers are some of the things that you need to resist if you want to pass from heartburn.
Cut down on coffee, not necessarily the caffeine. The oils that go straight to blend a java (both regular and decaf) may be the culprit in getting your acid all hyped up. Cut down on your java and see if your heartburn subsides.
Take it easy on the pepper. If you just love raining pepper on your meal and you just happened to have heartburns, chances are the pepper is causing you stomach woes, says Kimra Warren, a registered dietician at Medical Center in Oregon. A pepper smudged meal may be worsening your condition. Cut back on the red or black pepper, especially when dining out.
De-stress. Another major contributing factor to heartburns is stress. Whether you have a deadline to beat or a presentation to make, make sure that you just take things easy. Stress just increases acid secretion that leads to your esophagus to just malfunction.
