Stress Busters That Manage Heartburn
Beating heartburn and GERD symptoms should not necessarily mean beating the local drugstore any time and all of the time. If you had signed up to a high-stress job, chances are GERD symptoms are keeping you from performing at your best. Stress is one of the major contributing factors for your stomach to produce more acid than necessary and the esophageal sphincter to break down, says Dr. David Taylor.
Learn how to cope with stress, and, best of all, take it easy, says Taylor. Even if people have their ways in combating and managing stress, we have listed some of the most common techniques that most people (us included) find effective.
Positively Coping With Stress
Get into the beat. Music is one of the best media that you can count on when things just go berserk. Whether you love grooving to a club beat or just feel the countryside with a little Tim McGraw, listening to music during work or stressful times at home is one of the best ways to keep your cool and manage stress.
Play with your furry friend, your pet, that is. Studies show that petting little ruff can help decrease stress and even prolong your life years. So whenever you’re beating a deadline or just can’t understand your teenager, go outside and hit the park with your pet.
Let it all out. You may think that crying is the worst thing you can do when things just go wrong. Wrong, really. Experts at WebMd.com, in fact, recommend crying if helps you bring out the emotion and ease what you feel. But don’t go overboard, though, especially if you don’t feel like it. Stay in tune to your body and emotion, listen. It will tell you what it wants to do, what you can act on to help it cope with stress. On the other hand, if you feel like laughing, then breathe happiness in. Don’t let stress get in the way of your life.
Call your girlfriends. Go out and enjoy. If your job is stressing you out, there’s no point as sulking at your desk after five. Things wouldn’t go away if you don’t act on it. But for the mean time, let your body breathe, take your mind off your workplace for some time. Refresh and rejuvenate. Call your friends, throw a party, or hit the mall. Doing what you enjoy doing can help you better deal with your job, and can also punch in some creative juices to help you deal with the office task at hand.
Shower (or take the tub). This may be too simple, but experts at WebMd.com do recommend taking a nice, long shower or bath if it helps. Water is one of the Mother Nature’s gifts, take advantage of it by helping your mind and body relax in its presence. Prepare a soothing bath. Drop in your favorite bubble bath and just soak in pleasure.
Get your creative juices flowing. Remember a hobby. If you don’t have one, don’t worry. Write, act on a play, buy a clean music sheet, or paint. These are just some of the things that can help you deal with stress – and the things that set it all off. Keep and stay active. Do not dwell on negativity. By simply learning to stay in tune with your creativity, you can release all the negativity inside you and turn it into a more productive activity. Remember, a negativity refined can be the pushing instrument for the artist to come out in all of us.
Keep the faith. Studies show that believing and trusting a higher being can help people stay active and calm. Praying is one of the most important and vital keys in helping oneself in understanding that everything that happens in their lives do happened because of a reason. Go to the church or join their community. It doesn’t only reconnect you with a greater purpose and our creator but it also reminds you that your life is happening right at your very eye because of what your creator had planned for you.
